Another dip self mixed is you can get this at your local spar
Take an empty bottle
Buy 1 small bottle almond i think they come in 25ml bottles
Buy 1 small red color bottle
Buy 1 small bottle banana flavor
Take 1 quarter teaspoon florescence bright yellow
Mix this all together and you have a killer dip for most dams .
This is a dip i use and i always catch fish on this dip.

It's more expensive to mix your own
You can buy food flavourings at the many distributors but then it's anything from 1-25kg of flavouring which could cost as much as R18,000 for a very specific concentrate.
If you're not competition fishing and don't need an edge but just an attractant then just use regular food flavourings and colour powders.
If you have 8-10 top dips then you will have all you need and if you use them correctly you'll only replace 5 of them through a year so then the cost becomes more justifier, how long will it take you to use the 5 liters of dip you get out of 1kg concentrate and what if it doesn't work?

During my son's TV interview after winning the SA's he was asked what was his secret bait to win the SA's aNd his reply was, it' not what yoU cast, its where you cast
Over the past 5 years he has fished 4 SA's and 2 SAVOF tours in Bloemhof ans only used 2 dips and he's been in the top 5 in 4 and top 10 in 2 of the tournaments. Trident and MX mixed 50/50 and MLX but distance or accuracy or combination of both has been the secret

Up in Gauteng, it's probably a waste of time to make your own, purely due to the prices being so low up there.
Down here though, the prices are honestly borderline affordable, and that's if you can find it. I've mentioned it before, somewhere else, but I'll say it here again:
I've had to make my own Bunspice, because there just isn't any in the Western Cape. I kid you not! I visited 4 different tackle shops over the last year. I frequent 2 of them on an almost weekly basis. Not once was there a Bunspice dip on their racks. After many discussions with the shop owners it's quite clear that when the worth-while dips arrive on the racks, they are bought in bulk by the first desperate bank angler to walk in.
Down here, you tend to make your own or go without.

Experimenting with dips is expensive. But making them after you've had success, cost a fraction of what the commercial dips cost.
I'm averaging less than 10% of commercial dips with the stuff I made, and I've not caught a single fish on commercial stuff over the last 6 months.
