just got back from hermanus. water 12-14 degrees cold. not even a bight on fresh red bait, pilchard, mussel, moonshine, wonderworn or prawn. everyone i spoke to also caught nothing. where have the fish gone

Rumour has it the fish went away for the long weekend!Similarly I didn't catch anything or get a bite.cheers!

The water was too cold as i was in Langebaan and yes nothing landed a few nibbles and all quitre for the rest of the time, Was there 4 days. Saw 3 fish come out. with one being landed.

If you read that book by Nickie lourens t can't get to the name secrets to sea angling or somehting like that reading the sea. Anyway it states there that if the water is below 14 or even 14 it is not worth while fishing. you need to really fish hard to get something. A book worth getting in my opinion

Have to concur , cold and clear water , have given me very little success. My mate and I have been complaining about the lack of fish just lately.

Yep , no fish mate and not that i am accussing anyone falsely . but most of the shad coming out of strand area are under size...wish i had my camera with..sies man

And then the guys complain no fish , well there would be , if some selfish people would put the udersize ones back and let them breed....my 10 cents

I had some success at Hermanus Lagoon this weekend. Caught a small leervis and elf on Saturday evening and 4 small elf on Sunday morning. All were caught at Maanskynbaai using a 3" Lumo paddle tail soft plastic from Evercatch Supernatural. It was a nice birthday present for me.

Hey man, was that from the shore? And where may i ask is Maanskynbaai in the lagoon?

Yeah, it was from the shore. Maanskynbaai is well signposted between the prawn flats and the yacht club. You can't miss it.

Andy1 ,i wish you had your camera ,i guess you would have wished you had your fishing rod instead ,not "all" the shad in the Strand are undersize.
You are underestimating your own grounds

Junaids , i agree ..but then its far and few and in between ..this time of the year the shad are normally small , so lets put the undresize ones back so that mabe mother nature can recuperate and bless us with a bumper season next year.
