I have done a comparison with these reels the (Trinidad A)
against other reels Daiwas, Penns, Accurates aswell as others on the market.

The owner of them wanted to know the same thing???
His collection of reels would make tackle shops go
They had the Blakdog mag setup done .(UK based)

What are you wanting to compare exactly ?
I spin with big magged multis and field cast with big size magged reels so my experience with them might help in answering your questions.

For comparison,

Have you casted both static and knobby type on trinidad A reels. My one question would be, what were the differences in casting both, taking conditions into consideration?

Im looking for a second trinidad 16A( maybe even the NA) and would consider magging it, with either. We know the adjustability factor, but what else is there?

Morning -

Answer to Question ? Yes

I have cast both systems on the T-As aswell as numerous other models and brands of reels.

I had a conversation with someone which ended up on a field
with the two systems fitted to 2 Trini A's.
We threw different weights into a bit of wind and noted the different results.

Basically - if you disregard the aesthetic issues the knobbly mod has and concentrate on the control factors, you will realise that the reel becomes a little more user friendly with different loads in all sorts of conditions.

The more settings you have available ,the more control you have available .

If you are happy with one brake setting and a spool shaft control tension knob, statics are the way to go.
This is perhaps the better option for PSy - Cast a shimano DC and decide.

T A's are a SH1t reel to open if you want to adjust the static system. MisSion/vomit

- Knobblies give you a greater range of control over your reel IF you need it or you want it.
It Boils down to control - which I think is the answer to the question you posted - Control !

Grootvis - TRY GetHoldof a Shimano Trinidad DC 16 - IMO The most complete reel available. Well,.. sort of available.

Mornings back!

Agreed, if one can look past the protrusion, I can imagine the control of the spool is helpfull in different conditions; without the need to have to open the A series reel.

My side I have adjusted the static magnet to my choice, and probably could go a little faster. I need to work on this and get more time in!!

Regarding the DC's ~ both the 20 and 30 models I have are set to max and have rarely moved their setting.

BTW....I dont think you get the DC 16??

Heres one for sale;-

If only old salt could custom a shorter knurled knob, it would be ideal. Maybe he could? I am looking for a 4th trini . A 16A for spinning, maybe it could be an option.

hi grootvis
i bought it online at tackledirect a few years ago. sadly, as most know, they are not available anymore. awesome reels. i bought a 30 as well, and if i knew they were going to discontinue them, i would have bought the 20 too. just to have a full set.
