Here is my delema.
I destroyed the only working lure I had to make this mould and now I'm too kak scared to cast anything in it in fear of destroying it. I made the mould from F18 (Polyurethane) and I want to cast foam in it. I did some trials on the back and nothing seems to work. I've tried oils, silcone sprays, you name it, but it gets stuck every time. Resins are fine! But the PU foam just seems to penetrate everything.

The image is of the mould, I've cast foam already (on the left) in it but with cling film as the barrier.

My question is, does anyone have any ideas what I could use as a release agent?

POLYVINYL ALCOHOL (PVA)

Pva release agent available from NCS.

Get some mould wax from them while you're there.

Flip, I spoke to them they said they don't have anything and sent me off to a hardware that had no idea what I was talking about.

Give the mould a good polish with the wax and then paint on the PVA. It air dries, you can do the whole side of the mould.

Just ask those idiots for 5l of pink release, don't go into detail.

OK. Bennie, I got a litre of the release agent for U to try out.

It works on Polyoll and resins.

Should do the trik.

Give me a shout and we can make a plan.

did a little resin work myself...shoe polish also works as a release agent...

Hi bennie, shoe polish as barracuda says is a possibility and "Lard" which is used in cooking is another. These 2 products have good smearability properties and shouldn't be as readily absorbed into the casting as some of  the other products mentioned.

What is your reason for using foam? Is it floatation your looking for?

Hi,
The reason for foam is to achieve the same effect you get from wood. The foam is hard and quite dense. But you can make a very intricate shape, then repeat the lure exactly in a matter of minutes. Try carve something like Lucy out of wood... eish!
