Hi All
Went to roodeplaat (hengelaarsvriend area) on Sunday (21-02-10). Arrived there at 8am and my line was in at 8:30. Only spot available was at pen 11. Got 3 fish for the day, all fish came out between 8:30 and 11am. The weather conditions: 28-30 degrees, partly cloudy and a slight breeze that came up now and then.
There was a lot of people at the old NtV are as well. Only so 3 other fish that was caught by other anglers on both sides and a few that got away. People 2 pens away caught 2 carp (2.5Kg) during the night, nothing during the day.
It looks like the carp is biting at night and early morning.
So 1 Bass and a few vlei kurper, water was covered with small floating green stuff from bank to 6m in.
My biggest was a 1kg carp, the other 500g & 250g.
Bait used:[/b] (sliding ritvlei was used, distance 45 – 70m, anything from 90m and up waited 3+ ours for a bite)
1) Top hook soft flotie dipped in special, bottom hook worms with foreseen backing and FX/Triple D on BOM. The 1kg and 250g was caught on the soft flotie.
2) Top hook Stevenson flotie dipped in bunspice , bottom hook plan SWD and FX/Vrystaat on the BOM . The 500g was caught on the plan SWD.
Vrystaat from Supercast = smells like passion fruit
Special from Supercast = smells like soft spearmint/wintergreen
Hope this helps anyone.
