I ran into a Loomis & Franklin Platinum series 8ft & 9ft. Beautiful IM9 finish, but they felt a little 'floppy' to me - more like carp rods - despite the designation 'dropshot' on the label.
I finally settled for a Loomis & Franklin 7ft Med Action 2pc spinning rod - it felt more like a Med/Heavy to heavy - nice quick action and enough backbone. Hope to see it work well next year.
I'v had much pleasure from my other L&F spinning & baitcasting rods, but that's in freshwater for bass etc. I hope they hold up to the onslaught of the sea-dwelling critters! Maybe the more experienced guys can also give their 2c worth.
