He only wrote this ( 28th post on the Ace Craft Page):



"There are two wooden kit built ace crafts still running in PE and my neighbour has one.

There is also a complete kit in a garage in Redhouse, in P.E."



One of the partners of Ace Boating ( Ace Glyder range of boats) in Durban is Harry Naidoo...he actually built those wooden boats when he was working for Ace Craft

I have tried to contact him a few times by e-mail via their webpage but they haven't bothered to respond  :(

I wouldn't call floatation a back up more a last defence against re-enacting the closing scenes of Titanic

The reason you must fill the bottles with foam beads is that water pressure inside the hull of a sinking boat will crush most bottles along with your dreams of returning to shore. Transporting a boat from the reef down to the coast will often break the seals on the bottle due to air pressure differances as well.

Hey there. Im guessing by now and i agree it is definately Acecraft. They fact that you want to build one out of marine ply is awesome. You will have a unique boat. The ply i should think should be coated with a clear resin or something similar so that you dont get wood damage even tho it is marine ply. It is a great idea and would love to see the outcome.

Hi there all

 

Havn't been on the forum for ages but hoping to do a lot of visiting again now.

Progress report on the boat is that there hasnt been any.

Reason being I am no longer in the Gauteng area, I am now on the South Coast!

And so wish I had my boat here to get started, get finish and get out on the water!!!

Want to start making plans to get the boat down to the coast, but all in good time, so if anyone knows of anyone with a trailer I could rent or borrow, please let me know!
