look at the Shimano Exage 100H. Its a 10ft heavy rod and will give you enormous service. Plenty backbone and can cast from 2-7oz plugs etc although the perfect weight to cast is 4oz. I have the 110H which is actually the casting (and not the spinning)version which I modified with larger guides to suite spinning . I wanted the extra length to plug from the shore as well.
Regarding the reel and jigging rod ...perfect if thats the budget your looking at. The 14000 is like the Toyota Hilux off reels...not to pretty but pretty tough and reliable

Jip you can use the 14000 on the Exage100H as its made for spinning . Good to cast plugs and poppers and fishing gullies etc...remember that its not  a dedicated popping/plugging rod but more of an allrounder.

You'l pick it up at around R1000-1200 up here in Gauteng.

PS...fill in your location

is the exage 100 h and the exf100 the same?

Jip , it is the same rod ...it just refers to Shimano's product codes.

I for instance have a EXFS80 which is a 8ft med/heavy rod and a EXSF110H which is the 11ft heavy.

hi

tell me, hows the spheros 8000, compared to the 14000? is worth looking at as an option? maybe i can use for dropshot also, if it will suffice as a jigging n spoonig reel

i received the rod on friday, and i have to say it's a beast. it's rated 90gr-250gr. but it will start loading at 2oz. it's made from toray carbon, the rod is finished like a ripplefisher. Very japanese infact it would not look out of place next to the high end popping rods, performance wise i cant say much yet as i will be giving it a throw on saturday. the 9ft version will killer for yft and tale

I would recommend the Shimano Saragosa as a reasonably priced jigging reel.. I'v got the 14000 and I have been helluva impressed by it. Maybe look at getting a smaller one for your trevala MH which is a fantastic rod..
