Hi guys / Gals

 

I'm new to this site and a kinda novice fisherman.......

Going out deepsea fishing this Saturday , will be lauching at rocky bay , Not sure who my friends booked with......just know i'm going...

Can anyone help with some tips and advise........maybe a secret trace or bait.....

ha ha ha ...very funny........the weather does look a bit nasty........and lauching on a high tide as well.......

Ugly but a fine catch, was it great eating ??

What bait where you using, Thats is one of my dream fishes to catch from shore

Hi Ahmed.

Don't know if you gonna do bottom or game fishing. For game fish get a bait needle 2mm stainless wire.

Rig your hooks preferably Mustad hoodlums no 6 to 8 with 7# or 8# piano wire, rig some short and some longer and make a loop at the other end of the wire. Push the needle through from the tail end of the bait through the mouth one hook on each side, long wire hook 30mm from the tail and the short hook in the middle of the body one hook on each side of the whole bait.

Use your wire (piano) leader 4# wire +/- 500mm with a cuta duster and a clip on swivel. clip the swivel onto the loops of the hook wires inside the bait fish mouth and take 2mm copper wire push it through the top of the bait fish mouth and through the bottom and tie it down.

From here you got a few options.

Use a small barrel sinker with copper wire through and tie it at the bottom of the bait fish mouth between the gill plates, just push the copper wire into the fish at an angle this will keep it in place. This is a timeous method but does work well.

Another option is to use a wooden sosatie (kebab) stick and push it through from the tail side 2/3 from the total length of the bait at the top side of the bait. Both these methods will help the fish to be presented "normal" in the water as the bait will will tend to float normally belly down.

Don't forget live bait fish this is still the best and a bonito beats a sardine as bait any day. To fish at different depths use tear drop sinkers 6 to 7 ounces and tie a elastic band (cut the elastic and tie one end to the sinker) just behind your flurocarb leader +/- 3m leader 40pounds breaking strain ffor 10kg line. By using the sinker you will be able to fish your bait at different level of water.

we never launched this Saturday as heavy SW winds were predicted..

 

However i would like to thank everyone who assisted and advised me .......Thanks guys you'll the best.......

 

Well, weather pending ,,,,,we do have another booking on the 4th.......Can't wait...it seem so long away....
