Hello All,

My name is Andrew, 28 years carp angler from Europe.

I discovered this forum after recently your national team became WORLD BEST TEAM after winning WCC 2008!

Excellent result, excellent TEAM SOUTH AFRICA.....respect!

Because I am from another continent i was surpised to discover another stile of catching carp, new baits, new flavours and new dips. All of this are new for Europe of course not for you. So i hope you will find time to spread some of your knowledges to us also. I discovered SUPER CAST baits, only on the internet for the moment, but i am am very anxious to order some South African wonder baits and test them in our European lakes.

Can anyone advise me what supercast products should i order for a 72 hour sesion of common carp ? (the supercast site is only in African language and i am not able to understand).

I am interested in: what type of method feeder to use, in what combination of products, dips, baits, flavours, colours. My target is to catch as much common carp as i can in 72 hours. I heard only good things about tjop-tjop but is still a mistery for me how you use it, in what conditions. I also saw that in Africa you have some dips that you pour on the PVA bag and then the water comes fluo-green. What is that ? how is working? when to use it?

 

A lot of questions from me...i really hope i did not managed to upset you...but beleive me ....it is a whole new world for me your stile of carp angling. And i practise C&R Carp fishing for 6 years

Andrew welcome to sealine!!.the dip that turns the water green is floroceen. it is mixed with a lot of flavours.tjop-tjop is a pineapple based dip and will work almost all the time.the dips i would recomend from super cast is :legend,fx(contains green floro).,perdeby,gp,

The whole range of Supercast flavours are great! I do think however that the South African conditions and the venue where the world champs were held, played a major part in the results that were achieved.

The majority of the SA team members used to do normal bank angling. Normal bank angling is a high paced form of angling because you target fish above 150grams in an 8 hour period. The distances range from 20m up to 150m+ , in this period it is not uncommon to catch up to 60 fish+. Therfore the majority of SA anglers are able to fish at a very high tempo.

To conclude, i don't think the SA baits are so much better than the European baits, you guys are way ahead of us when it comes to fishing tecniques. If the fish are in a feeding frenzy like they were at Bloemhom, then you can use pretty much any bait, just as long as you can keep the fish in your swim.

I am 100% sure that not the bait you are using in SA is the most important, your anglers are far more well adapted to catch fish in a very high rate, maybe Europe baits are more advanced, and European techniques are more advanced also as you say ... but not always something more advanced is better. My personal opinion is that your baits are revolutionary and in EUROPE will do far more better than today baits.

A few words about our baits: 90% boilies (squid&octopus is the most catching aroma at least here in Romania).

About our lakes, anglers and internal copetitions:

We have some great lakes, not as big as yours in SA but big enough for 64 teams copetitions. We have mostly common carp and mirror carp with weights above 25 kg!!! and few SPECIMEN CARPS OVER 30 KG!!

Anglers in Romania are using advanced techniques to catch Specimen Carps, and we have good results, but internal competitions all carps over 2kg counts, so Specimen Carp become speed fishing for carp ... and in this chapter i think we could use your techniques and baits that are far better than ours.

Wow! Those romanian carp are huge! I get your point regarding speed fishing for carp. I was under the impression that the European carp was not so much about speed fishing.

We are not very fond of speed fishing...but if you want to win a competition you must practice speed fishing. My personal record is 316KG of carp in 72 hours ...and 4th place...first place had 650kg.

So we practise also speed fishing but only in competitions, for pleasure we all preffer to wait 3 days for the Monster Carp :wfish

Welcome this side Euro_carp. Had a look at those pics, wow, amazing fish! Its great to hear from European anglers. I'll be making a trip out to your side of the globe in 2010, maybe we could hook up and you could show us how it's done your side. Will bring some SA baits along and try our methods out on your lakes... It would be a great learning experience!
