His guys --

Recently moved to Fort Dauphin from Richards Bay - thought a report on the angling potential would be useful -

Rock and surf - totally dead Im afraid - some luck with small Yellowfin Kingies on dshot - and Shad Nov/Dec. If u are heading this way, leave your surf gear behind - and get a trip with one of the locals in their Pirogues - it is amazing the fish these guys catch on handline out in the deep blue - Ive seen Couta and yellowfins in the 20kg class regularily coming out.

My hopes are on a fishing ski being shipped out - ski boats almost non existant - but not for me in this area - you get into trouble next landfall sighting will be as u pass  Cape point on the way to Antarctica ---- not for me!!

Hullo Bennie

The local poulation are subsistence fisherman and have been exploiting all thats shallow for centuries - all that remains are the reef species and gamefish in deeper waters - bottom line its been fished out!

I beleive this is not nescesssarily the case on the nothern parts of the island however.

yep - the Nothern part of the island is still an angling paradise I understand - need to take a trip up there.
