Hi NeilG,

If you read Robs mail you will see that he was replying to Loams, but at least we all agree, that there are better IM8 rods than a G Loomis, and that there is also better service out their...Somewhere!

Jip Van I did, cause I broke 2 of the G Loomis rods !! If memory serves correct it was the IM7 versions that broke (in my case)

BTW I bought the Air 9ft XH a week or 2 ago
one thing, tell them to put bigger bloody guides, why oh why are the front 3 so small !!!!!!!

You are lucky Loams… I guess you know someone there because my mate broke a G. Loomis rod and had to wait 6 months for a replacement and pay R800. Great service NOT!

Rob boet

I BROKE 2 OF THEM

First one I thought my fault and when the second one broke IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE I took it back and DEMANDED my money back.

They are on my NEVER BUY THAT S%^T AGAIN list ...

Understand that both rods broke within 10 CASTS.
That would piss me off completely!!!

Sorry you guys had such bad service though, I just went straight to Rapala VMC and they just sorted it out. I suspect that the problem is not with VMC, but rather the shops?

That said, my next rod is a Berkley Air for Dropshot.

I think my local shop would disagree rather vehemently.:swear

Hi NeilG,

If you shorten your leader, the guides won't be a problem. make them between 60cm and 100cm, so that the knot will not pass threw the guides, but I think we've discussed this one before.

Oh yes, we got to know each other over this subject! Lol

Enjoy

hi niel, was is 'loomis & franklin' rods that broke or 'g.loomis' ? there is a BIG difference. i have several g.loomis fly rods and they are exceptional rods -many consider there blanks to be among the best in the world.

Sparky they were G. Loomis Rods and no one is arguing the fact that they are World Class rods... the issue is the service levels to the local shops in Durban by VMC.

thanks rob. just thought that there may have been a mix up. as it's suprising to me that 2 of there rods could have broken so easily , 'cos i have fished some of there rods hard for years without any problems. fortunately i have not had to deal with any after sales service or back up.
