Hello from the Reef

Greetings from Gauteng. Been browsing around the forum for a few days and have now registered. Must say that I've learnt alot so far.

So I'm heading down the coast this December and my 8 year old wants to fish. I have no idea where to start as there are just too many options.

First things first.. Rod/Reels. Saw the following on Takealot and want to find out from you veterans if it would be a decent first time rod/reel?

Ofcause I'm not looking to reel sandsharks, and the likes but really just have some fun. Looking forward to learning heaps and maybe even turn this into a regular thing.

What is your budget that you are looking to spend and what sections of the coast are you looking to visit ?

From there we will be able to guide you a bit better regarding the setups.

Hi start with a 7ft baitcasting setup best place would be a estuary you are going to have much more fun there..get a decent setup from R1200..to R1500..look at Shimano and abu garcia...a baitcaster reel is the best place to start very easy and simple to adjust for casting..plenty of fun..cheers.
