Harness for shark fishing

I have been warned not to attempt going shark fishing on my own. I'm not the biggest blok in the world. I have a standard rod holder that goes on your waist.

I have been told that I should look into getting a harness for myself. I just got the new BG50 Daiwa Saltist. I don't see anywhere on the reel that you can attach a harness clip to. Any suggestions!!!!

Thanks everyone.

Harness is for a big reel where big drag is used and 0.80-1.2mm mainline is used.

Your BG50 is a peashooter for Mosselbay and Robberg. You don't need a harness for that.

As a suggestion. Go see Sean Mey of Gofish tackleshop and pay him for a day trip and that will shorten your learning curve into shark fishing by at least 10 years.

You don't need a harness fishing from the beach. Size doesn't count either. I've seen guys of 5'6" pulling big sharks. Just make sure that you have enough line, that is braid as backing, the right rod and hang on after a pull and you will be able to land your shark, Stay away from Great Whites. They are protected and fines are heavy!!!!!!!
If you have back problems get yourself a good weightlifter belt and tie your rod bucket over it and it will protect your back and help reduce the strain of long fights should you hook a beast, especially rays.
