Handheld GPS - Garmin 60CSx

On my previous boat, i had the Furuno GP7000F, which is a brilliant unit!! Has a decent plotter and a VERY good echo/fishfinder.
The Garmin GPS60CX is a very good little hand-held unit. On my current boat, i used the same unit for more than a year, as my prime GPS unit. You MUST buy the holding/mounting bracket and external power cable. The handheld GPS's eat battery power, so an external power cable is a must.
The Garmin unit has a very handy compass page, which shows you what direction to travel. This makes it very easy for inexperienced boaters, junior anglers, or new crew to be able to able to navigate the vessel. This is a VITAL aspect, as should anything happen to the skipper, the crew MUST be able to take you back to port.

Very, very jealous. I assume you use the finder on it as well? Does your radar hook up to it?
I use an old Garmin GPS II for back-up, and hope to have a Nuvi soon that will double for my vehicle for tripping.

I how-ever don't use the Garmin fishfinder, i prefer my Furuno. I have a FCV620 mounted above the Garmin unit. My radar is a Garmin 36m HD unit, which hooks up to the plotter. Have just installed it and am still playing around with the settings.
Freedom1, you're more than welcome to come check out my Garmin GPS60 on my boat. That'll give you a feel for how it works on the water. I'll be down at the boat the whole day tommorow..............
