Kaspaas, Impressive report!!
Nice to see the detail you managed to incorporate on a fishing report and on top of that the tips to the next angler that cames along.
All the other guys, nice pictures.
It seems more than a fishing trip, even with all the problems it was an experience in itself and by the look you really had a great time on the field.
Some points there:
Toyota is the car for Angola trips
Even with a bit more fish it's nice to see someone say you still have to fight for your fish and that fish just doesn't jump in your arms LOL
More than fishing the trip is an adventure in itself.
Prepare, prepare, prepare, don't take conditions for granted.
Deal with bureaucracy in advance and even like that you can sometimes expect awfull surprises.
South of Angola is cold in this time of the year don't get all the summer pics decieve you.
It seems Sealine found the right formula for puting people together working on their fishing passion...

Fanie you are right no Tourism with this kind of situations but it's not only an Angolan problem.
Just the other I went to see the WC game at PE and 5 out of my 25 guest got locked at the airport in PE, all Portuguese Nationality people with no need for VISA in SA and that just one month before had gone into SA, but this time they were coming from Angola in a private flight and were not authorized due to Yellow fever documents there were not in order but one month ago were suposed to be.
They slept at the airport and we leaved next day, I had to have food delivered there....
One week later I took two of them to Durban and with the exact same documents they were allowed in th country, go figure.
My wife had to delay her trip to Lisbon because our Nanny VISA did not come up in time even having asked for it one month before.
Last year 20 Angolans with a Brazillian Visa were sent back at the Brazillian airport with out any reason..
It hapenned to me in Venezuela also some years ago, they wanted me to pay taxes on leaving the country because I went there in business even though I did not received any money from the office there...
But I agree with you Angola beats every country in this kind of problems.
Law is changing but procedure and mentality hasn't changed yet..
P.S. - Just noticed post #105 is the suken ship, I think even without a VISA it is allready in Angolan coastal waters

Yes unfortunately bribery (fraud) is a common thing in Africa. I think there are few places where it is not abused. It is of course fueled by a lot of people doing illegal things who think they can buy their way out of any situation.
It's probably not all your fault ;-) I was just giving you a bit of grief.
I relate to that, we at our business need to fly people in and out of the country regularly.
Just today I was suposed to have a conference and the main spoker got his VISA delayed one day, I had flewn in people from all the country and the conference is only going to happen tommorrow, imagine that....

Team Garrick won the competition after being far behind at one stage. Some great catches were made by the guys and girls and although being in a competition mode, the social side of things was always on the frontline.
With everything all comes an end. There was a prize giving held where prizes and certificates was handed out to the winners.
Let me use this opportunity to thank Marina for the great effort she made to put the prizes and certificates together. I think all will agree with me that this was the highlight of the trip. Totally unexpected and done very, very professional.

Casper – For falling on the rocks and losing a rod
Aubrey – For falling off his chair the night in the dunes.
