Hair vs. on the hook

Hey everyone I'm new here, and just want ot find out something from the pro's, say for instance I use mielies, what's the difference between using  three directly on the shaft of a hook, and using three of them on a hair rig?

Hey mate! I am also a Noob but read somewhere on th forum that when the bait is on the hair it is harder for the fish to spit the bait and hook out so it is easier to hook! Hope I am right, I bought a couple hair rigs the arvie and  if you imagine a boilie etc on the hair the theory looks correct!

I'm not all that much of a newbie, i've done a bit of "specimen" fishing tie my own rigs etc etc. Won't clasify myself as a specimen angler seeing as I still use some of the pap gooing styles, just wanted to no the reason, but your theary makes sence. One more question can you use floaties on a hair rig?

the hair rig is more effective in hooking the carp...also better when using hard baits like boilies, cooked maize, etc...if you put a hard piece of cooked maize on the hook itself, it'll most probably prevent you from getting the hook set properly, causing you to lose the fish.

I can think of a few reasons why a hair-rig should be better and why exactly...

With a hair-rig the hook is completely open and only connected to the bait with a piece of braid. The bait has a more natural look and is more attractive for carp, which leads to a more confident pickup.

Also the hook is completely open, due to this fact the hook sets much easier and most of the time exactly in the scissors.

With a hair-rig it's possible to bait-up with much larger bait luring bigger fish and escaping from the "kleuterskool".

Hooking the maize directly onto the hook shaft works, I've caught many fish using this but it's not as effective + it's better for the carp.

I think the reason a Hair rig works better in hooking the fish is because of the hook turn movement. The fish sucks in what appears to be normal food, it then takes up the slack between the sinker and the hook with bait and hook in the mouth, if your hair is tied properly the sharp end of the hook will always turn towards the point of resistance being the sinker and turn the hook towards the bottom lip, when this happens the fish will have a hard time trying to remove the hook from its mouth.
