Ryan is an Artlure fisherman..............................
Sorry bru I am the last person you should be asking.
But I would assume any broiler farm should have dead day olds - I think there are some out Lanseria way
We used to use garden snails, take them out their "housing", put in glass bottle and put TCP in the bottle. It was a number one bait at Roodeplaat. Me and my friend caught in one evening, more than 20 barbel (4 - 15kg) on this bait. You rigg about 3 on at a time.
Contact chicken farms in your area. they usually let you have a bag for free. What other baits work for Barbel? Snails seem like good one, also head of stepped on fish. What else? I know I use chicken liver. Works well...
Sorry guys next week will have time for more detailed posts.
Barbel are mainly nocturnal feeders - we in artlure catch them best in the very early morning when they are still active and when the day is not so bright they are most definately active and if it is raining invaribly there is cloud cover = active barbel
