Guys,

No-one has been able to answer this question of mine.....

Reading the posts in the gallery it sparked up the question again.......

Why is it that certain Ignoblis have that lil fin just in front of the Dorsal? Well if you were going to answer one is a female the other male....... well, u wrong. Been there, tried the evidence......

Its one of those bugging questions and it needs to be put to rest...

Vol - Post a pic bru, what are you talikn about? Ther is only one Ignobilis... Caranx Ignobilis, GT, Giant Treavlly, Giant Kingfish, Ulua.....Is this what you talkin about?

The lil fin in front. Some kings, be it Iggies or what ever specie....... some have it and some dont. My question is why do some have this fin? Surely it aids the fish in particular in some way?

That fin is just folded down okes..... in some shots its down, others its up.... At least on GT's... Most Caranx species, like Tuna, have a slit that this fin folds down into... and out of the way... these fish are unbelievably well designed okes... one of the greatest things about catching a GT for me is holding a piece of perfect evolution, nature at its peak, in your hands...and then releasing it...

Heaven forbid you ever do, but if you do ever keep one to eat, you will see when fillteing them, that when you hit this area with a knife, it is super hard and tough, and once you work around it and finish the filleting, you'll actually see the casing for the folded fin.

Here is two shots of the same fish, a Bluefin Trevally ( Caranx Melampygus) taken by my old man, same fish, two shots, one with fin up....

ahhhh I see your point although on the next king, erm, maby next Dec.... lol, ill be sure to investigate that fold-away-fin.

Nepps my bru , absolutley no offence but in the third pic there is striking resemblance to the Nik Naks man.
