Grinder and Rod Setup?

Hi guys

Eventually taking the plunge and deciding to move away from my multiplier setup to the new Griner Revolution.

Looking for something for general medium edible rock and surf fishing? As I am from Jhb and only get to the sea two weeks a year (if I am lucky), I am looking for something of a decent quality but not costing an arm and a leg.

Looking for something in the 12ft side. In the past I have mainly done "bait type" fishing, but wanting to try my hand with lures etc? Is there a setup which I could reasonably use for both?
Thanks so much for your advice!
Malcolm

For lure/spoon spinning and light bait fishing I use two set-ups.

One is a Oval DC 10'6(High reel seat) with a Ultegra 5500 the other a 12'6 Oval DC (Low reel seat) with either a Ultegra 5500 or a Magged Daiwa SL20SH. Both are rated for casting 1-4 ounces and are excellent light tackle spinning and bait fishing set-ups.

Both where custom built by Enigma. He is a master rod builder and operates out of Centurion. I am sure he will reply here.

He may suggest some other options but I am very happy with my set-ups.

Nicest casting rods in this class I have ever owned. They are HMG so look after them when scratching on the rocks.

Ja, good advice.
12' is nice for bait (so is 14'), but way too long for comfortable spinning.
The 11' assassin is a popular choice.
Its a nice rod but the guides are a bit prone to breakage.
A custom build will always be better, but maybe not worth it if you only fish now and again.
