Hi Guys

I received an Assassin Bluefish XT 14.6 as a gift. Its a 3oz to 5oz sinker.

I would like to know if a Daiwa BG6500 will be ok to use on this rod or is the reel too big.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Nad

The BG6500 and BG8000 has the same body, with the 6500 having a shallower spool.

I would lean more to the BG5000.

Just bear in mind that the sizing on the BG and the BG MQ differs in size (I.e. a BG 8000 and BG MQ's sizing is not the same)

gosa 8k/10k, bg 5k or mg MQ 8k/10k will match that rod very well. I personally fish a gosa 10k and bg5k on my 14'6 and it balances very well on the rod

Gosa 8k 10k and 14 basically same size only spools differ. The 14000 has a different drive that lays the line a bit neater but theoretically a bit less strong than the 8 and 10k. I have a 14k on a Bluefish #5 with 30lb jdb braid and that setup fishes like a dream, also cast plugs with it. The gosh 14000 is an xg and has the fastest retrieve speeds of all the Saragossa reels at 134cm per crank which helps a lot when you need to lift a sinker over structure or pop a plug after a long cast. The 10000 is a pg which is bit slower but very strong and the 8000 HG which basically has the same retrieve speed as the 10000. Imo get either 14000 or if you want to go lighter the 8000.
