Here is my great start to 2009 with this catch.
On the morning of the 7th Jan, i hooked a something big but was scared to lose my catch for i was fishing with a hand line, running trace on a 500ml coke bottle. As i was free pulling the line it was fine but when this thing turned and tried to get away the line pulled and burnt my fingers (should have known better).
So i began to hold the bottle tight and gave it little line when it wanted then reeled the bottle when it stopped, then it went left which was a problem as i was on a ship and had to pass the bottle around pipings, then it went left giving me more work. when it pulled hard i held the bottle below the edge so the ship was taking the strain, after bout 8 minutes i lifted it above the water. What a beautiful sight it was a Kingy.
Afraid of it falling of the line as did a grunter of about over 2kg the previous morning, i told my bro to reel the bottle as i held my arm stretched out with the line running over it. After the 10 minutes of anxiety i was all smiles. By the way i had to lift this fish 12m above the water to land it.
This Kingy weighed in at 2kg
