Got these on sunday afternoon on cracker with ligh

Thats a good pair right there!!!!! I have had the pleasure of landing an 8Kg, on 15lb. Durban harbour is unmatched with their grunter and kingie catches.

I was fortunate to have landed a 19kg GT off number 13 a while ago, on drift full sardine, whilst trying for rock cod. I have caught plenty more on various baits, however not of this size.

....I am not opening up old wounds however, I have just picked up on this thread and can vouch first hand that Mr Zipozn is a Grunter-catching machine!

A couple of us will sit on a sandbank in the harbor for some time (untouched) when this yellow ski will pull up. Within a couple of minutes he's on with a fish!

No wonder you are always so friendly.

@zipozn: Nice catches !! Where do you launch? Parking area near Whilson's Warf?

I'll be there tomorrow morning early but I believe the cops chase kayakers away these days?

I think I've finally found the right thread to ask this..

How do I know what hook size i need to use??

For grunter I've been told anything from 6 to 2/0.
A guy at a tackle shop told me to take number 4 hooks because "you can catch anything on a 4 hook".

I'm not going for shark or rays here..just a decent something..

A very amateur question, i know..

Hoping the legends here can offer some tips..

Thanks!

Just been looking at this thread and find it hard to believe such nice grunter been coming out of the harbour,,, as most of guys I know blank badly.... It goes to show that you got to know what you are doing to catch such fine specimen like that.. Think mr zipozn and Mile are the grunters guru
