got convinced to go camping at double mouth with Alton so that we could fish late at night and early morning for spotted gullies and blacks, and then head off to Black rock for sharks.. We met up with Gareth there as well. the afternoon started off with the wood being abit wet and didn't burn and before the fire went out we got plenty dry sticks and built the fire up and she began to burn burnonf))) fire was taking its time so we decided as it got dark we should go have one quick throw and head back to camp to braai. 1st throw we both had bites but not big fish, I managed to get a striped cat shark of 95cm and Alton put out a nice spotted gulley bait with a circle and it looked like a striped cat shark was playing with the bait. We reeled up and went back to camp, had some lekker food and came back down for a couple more throws, I think it was my 2nd cast and I get pulled flat, I hit and held that fish with .45 perline, It wanted to go but I turned it, I could feel its a good fish and new theres some ugly rocks out there and the black went twice into the bricks for about 4secounds but I managed to get him out. the tide Is pretty high and there is a nasty ledge that I didn't have time to avoid by pulling it to the beach, decided to try pull it over the rocks, 1st attempt didn't work due to the wave sucking back, 2nd attempt same thing, 3 attempt I had him
, she measured at a lovely 64cm or 7.38kg, that's a PB black, caught it on stripie and mullet fillet combo with a double hook trace. threw the fish back in the calm pond where it could escape when it wanted to, it turned on its side and battled to him, I got in the water held Its head towards the waves that were about to come in, after about 30 seconds with good water flowing through its gills it eventully swam off:sf:::::H, next few throws I managed to get another striped cat shark of 90cm. Next morning we fished the same spot but on the low tide, I got nothing and Alton got a striped cat shark and a small spotted gulley shark. We then decided to skip Black rock and fish duck pond which would be a 1st for me. tough drive getting there but the car just managed. Baits in the water and nothing is happening, showl of sardines far out could've been the reason. I saw a couple big mullet swimming on the surface, threw for one, lost 2 big mullet before I managed a average 30cm mullet, slid it out live, a hour went by and a showl of sardines got pretty close and then all of sudden off went my reel!!!!! as I got my rod out the rod spike there was nothing, BURNT OFF!!! so far Black tips 2, me 0! iv got a total of 2 black tips but yet to even get time to watch it take line with drag:swear, a guy from the western cape came down and slid a nice big bait and within 30min his rod went off, black tip jumped about 10 times out the water and then ran for about 500m, 1st oak Iv seen been pulled to the braid. after an hour he gets it to the small bay but abit to far out, big swells start rolling in and pushes the shark towards the rocky point and eventuly cuts him off. That's sadly how fishing goes, most of the time you think you have it but you dont

but it sure was another lesson in how important bait choice and presentation is!!
