Hi,

I will post some pics soon, the reason why it that I heard that these blanks are T24 and the T53 has more back bone. Casting with them are awesome but that extra 10m will make a huge difference::S

Depends on how good you can through? LOL

But if your quite good i guess 100 to 110 is a good distance.

My MAX is 120m but i rarely do it. rather go with a m1 and ripp it to that distance.

Magnaflex Blue Marlin 13ft, 5lb hi visibilty, 18lb leader, Shimano 8000GTE. Supercast feed with pervomita cereal-which you don't get anymore for added mass.

Sold those rods cos its back bone was slack so the effort you have to put in to get distance with a light weight was great. But it certainly did me justice. Those rods have a T24 blank so it a little softer then the T53

Dave,
If you did 140m on a clip in 2008 with a m1.5, then you should know what distance you do with a m0.....? !

Sorry, but your talk doesn't add up for me . I have T53's and I reckon I am above average on casting. But even in today's standards and more advanced rods and factors like wind, I don't think I will be able to fish consistantly at a clip of 140 m with a M1.5. Maybe with a 20km/h wind from behind....lol

If you are a good caster you would not even consider buying any rod other than the top notch rods available to get more distance.

Not picking a fight, just my 2cents.

:fbash Lol ...., absolutely, I do believe that top end rods do the trick, maybe some but for me I'm a good caster I've been there and done that surprisingly with a rod that costed a mere 700 bucks. Yes if i pursued for protea colors I would have invested in a top end rod. I've stopped at savof/safbaf...

Lol..I've seen guys that can barely cast 100m with T53.Rods play a role, but a caster plays a bigger one. Think of a rugby player or a golf player, with the wind the rugby player kicks harder or the golf player swings harder.::S

Ultimately purchasing a top end rod should be a process, top anglers search for a rod irrespective of cost to get that edge(a weight as light as possible and a far as possible). Lol...

T24 Rockets are built on the 365/3 Blue Marlin Blank so are built on a Saltwater Blank that has a completely different action to the 365/2+1 T53

The 2 rods should not be compared as the Rocket had a very short lifespan in the SA Market as it is a thick rod and awkward to handle and needs power to cast with.

To thus answer the question the T53 365/2+1 is by far the most used and in my opinion the better rod.

Line Clip casting.........

Nowhere near as accurate as actual distance, especially the further out you fish.

At the recent nationals some of our team could not understand why they were not getting fish casting a M1 to 120m line clip.

I said it was because they were not hitting the clip hard enough. This resulted in an argument and we then applied the adage, "Om te MEET is Om te WEET"

With the cast reaching the clip just before the bait hit the water (what they were doing, their 120m clip resulted in them fishing at 92-96m (on 120m clip)

With it hitting in the air the were getting 103m

With it hitting in the air and pulling the rod dowm it was 108m

Changing to a P4 hitting in the air and pullin the rod down was 115m

So a 140m Line Clip with a M1.5 (considering it hasn't the momentum to pull the line flat) you would at be be doing a 125m cast with a M1.5.

Very, very few anglers, Protea or otherwise can fish 145m even with a P4 with bol and bait

Point taken, thanks for the advice Enigma. Your posts are really great to have. I've read the post on DIY rod building and I'm definitely gonna give it a shot to customise my rods.

Much appreciated.

Enigma,

Will a permanant marker other then the line clip give a more refined and a more defined indication on a decent cast???^^..
