My mate and i were the 2 guys fishing off the nets, we left not long after you guys arrived...
We caught plenty sand soldiers (those pink fish) Lots of shad, including my PB around 4kg, but mostly all small and also lots of bait fish, maasbunkers and mackerel...

I'm not too sure what the bag limit on those pinkies are, there actually quite pesky, the next worst thing to puffers...

PM me when you wanna head out again, i have a spare ski, and would be happy to take you along....

(all shad were released, as the season is closed)

I have an anchor, but when i fish at Vetchies i pack very lightly (to store bait)... Dont have a chiller so i use my dry hatch with a cube of frozen sea water...

Generally the baitfish hang around the nets so i have a leash that i use to clip on with, which allows me to stay in one place, no matter how the dritf or swell moves...

cool man -will give it a try next time i am down from JHB-

heard there some good rockod- stumpie around vecthies reef..... so really wana go target them.

when will the big game fish be around??

also- will a 10ounce grapnel- work as a make shift sinker??? ^^..

Lol... Maybe a brick will do the trick...
I don't really target much else besides bait when launch at vetchies, but i also believe springer and the others you mentioned hand around there too...

The game fish, Couta, Tuna etc are apparently showing up now, i haven't had much time to get out there to target them yet, they are generally around the deeper regions...

Lol... Notice the big round buoy??? Thats where the nets end.
There isn't much to worry about.

Like i said, i only go there for bait, sometimes if there isn't any around we venture further out to target other bottom fish like rockod etc... Especially when the snoek are around, there really isn't anything to worry about!

Tight lines!
