Going down to a private stretch on the Vaal river near Bothaville this weekend.

Weather does not look good - don't think artlure will work as I hear the water is very deep. Thought I would gooi n beitjie pap.

Any suggestions?

The river carp are more exciting to catsh than any. A 3kg river carp will give you the fight a 10kg still water carp will give.

Few tips:
Bom = heavy (chick chick with VERY litle binder)

Hookbaits:
1 Koo pip on the hook

with a caramel brownbread backing to the pip

On the method = FX and very little Devilsfork

You can make you brownbread backing with the FX.

Fish close to the sides - max distance out 40 - 50 meters. Next or in front to the Hiacinth the best spots.

Yes FX and Devilsfork on the same bom. VERY little Devilsfork. I usually dip my finger in the Devilsfork and swipe it on the bom - this how little.

Devilsfork = Almond and Garlic so it is very strong

The FX you can put on as much as you like.

Lead - looks like a mush room - use the M1 size - spring will be dragged down river.

Slyding Rietvlei trace - buy them readymade and replace the spring with the Musroom lead

No probs on the Q's - shoot away if you need more info.

Been and done......
Only thing that seemed to work was stuttaford concentrate - and almond floaties . We caught herds of lil carp, some yellows and a lone muddy but nothing spectacular just rats n mice .
