Glassy jig

I have been wanting to do something like this for a while. Not sure if it's good, but it looks so cool.

First I cast an original casting lure and took the deburring wheel to it till it was under size. Basically the same shape just smaller. Here it is next to the original lure.

Next I made a silicone mould for it and cast it in lead. I must admit the silicone moulds are kak but will work ok for 1 or 2 off. As soon as the mould gets hot it's a pain. Next year I'll make an aluminium mould.

Anyway, here it is after casting.

Then I powder coated it white and gave it some decent sized eyes. The only reason I powder coated it was because it was easier than getting my spray gun out and cleaning it afterwards. In the future, it will be painted with all sorts of finishes.

Next it went into the original mould and moulded in resin. Colour of choice here is green with a little red chin.

The jig weighs 180 grams and I recon it will have a good action.

It's difficult to control the temp the way we do it. But that is why using an aluminium mould would work better because it draws the heat away when you pour it. Silicone gets as hot and the lead ends up bubbling in the mould when you pour the second lead. First pour is fine. Then the silicone deforms and you don't get a "true shape" casting. I need to reduce the size of the leads as well. They are still too big and too tight a tolerance in the resin mould.
