Giant sandies are BACK!

Sitting comfortably having a bit of dinner with a mate and my phone decides to go BEEP!  Multimedia message from the Frikster bragging about a fish he just hooked.  198cm Giant Guitar.  Nearly choke on my last bit of chicken scnitzel and quickly arrange the next day.

Frikster, Greggles, Johan (my mate) and Anton (frikster's mate) get to Hlobane at about 04h30 and the place is buzzing.  Already full and the sun aint even up properly.

A hard session in the gym the day before had left my arms limp - needless to say that was the biggest mistake I could ever have made.  Lines wet and about an hour or two later all hell breaks loose!

Doble up reel screaming - Greggles and Frikster are VAS!  Oh crap - if Frikster is also vas - who is going to help me land mine?  Slight nervous sweat.  Frikster's line goes pap and then nothing.  Fish off.  Mine does not like staying close and before I know what hit me - BRAID.  Oh hell - is that what my braid looks like?

Poseidon 3 and Saltist 50 working overtime.  22minutes later I pass my rod to Johan (by this time the arms have given up and I need to save my tackle!)

3 minutes later my beauty arrives next to my feet.

Frikster not to be put down - just before we leave goes VAS with a 123cm beauty.

All in all a GREAT day and thanks to Sharkman, Frikster, Johan and all for the assistance on the beach.  My personal best and a serious notch in my belt!!!

Here is Frikster with his Fish:  Hlobane, 123cm, Giant Guitar

Ok - trouble with the loading of the pics. They are a little large it seems. Any Idea how to get them a tad smaller?

And let us not forget that KK also likes to be in when the fish are taking!  Here he is with his contribution to the Ballies' total!  KK - cant remember the weight on this one?  Assistance?  This one was hooked at Cassarinas on Sunday.

Lovely Fish ........ and a nice work out, how on earth can you hand your rod over to someone else, when all one dreams of is fighting a fish like that ....lol...... i understand the deep burn.

Was either that or lose the rod. Left arm went completely spasmed after the day before. Would not have been a problem if not for the previous day. Lesson learned. Was absolutely awesome experience. Did get it righ inot the shore break so was chuffed.

There are plenty of them floating around this side now - so I will be into one again. Just this time - no gym before!

Habib Bhai! I was sliding a Bonnie head. A size one at that. It was by chance that i saw my rod because I heard Frikster's reel screaming and going mad. When I looked around i saw my rod bounce once then go completely slack. Ran across to it and wound into the slack. Next thing I was flat. Set the hooks and held on for dear life! Once it was on he fought like a marine. Awesome experience.

10/0 Brown Kendal's - I was impressed.  And as for my knots - I was k@kking because I am new to this sport so not always confident in the knots.  But thanks to the help from Frikster tying my braid, and from Prelun from KZN Angling Team, and Johan van Eck - my good mate, the fish is n my photot frame and was safely released.
