Getting stuck in rocks

Hi guys

Just thought that this might interest you.
ON a recent fishing trip i kept on losing sinkers going out water where there were lotsa rocks. I lost all bottle sinkers and were left with only graphnels and pyramid sinkers. AND THEN a brain wave came to me.

I used a shad cork/bung that i slided down the sinker line to the sinker and fixed it with a match stick.

This made an amazing difference on my cast. sinker just sailed away. i did not lose a single sinker thereafter aswhenever i hit a crevice i waited a second. the cork is soft so it doesent lock itself into a crevice and teh cork keeps bobbing in the water keeping th sinker away.

This was just my experience. im not saying its always ganna work. but i now even use it in calm water together with my sinker. gives me extra distance and minumises overwinds, as the cork being very light holds the sinker slightly longer in the air, The sinker andcork moves as one projectile. cork has to be firmly fixed against the sinker

My uncle from Namibia told me a very similar tale, but he used the plastic flotation that is used for dam fishing.

I tried this once with a cork slid down the sinker trace and pressed into the top of the sinker. I don't think it had a wonderful effect on my casting and in the end lost the sinker after a good couple of throws as well.

Maybe, maybe not. Will have to test the theory a bit more to convince myself

this just jogged my memory. someone once showed me how he used a piece of plastic folded in half,with the line running through a hole on either side, so the sinker aquaplains when reeled in

 sold them it.........Yep i do have them ......went to go see can get othe volumes  but i see the missing one is fresh water ......except for the new one wich is volume 12 i think  wich they can order for me....

I have lost a lot of sinkers too :headb...so dont feel to bad..then I just stopped buying sinkers and went down to all the mech shops here by me and asked them for there old spark plugs.... works wonders in the rocks and on reefs.Just give them a good clean before going fishing with them.

those work, but what u gonna use if the reef u want to place your bait is further out.

LOL LOL LOL, I also when I was living in Simonstown would go down to Baileys Cottage and go dive out sinkers there when the water was nice and clean and calm,used to come out with some nice kg's,oh and of cause took my speargun with just in case somthing nice comes by....  :f1shyJust watch out for those Great whites....:sha
