So yeah - the first leg has come and gone.
The morning started with the team talks and 07:00 were lines in. I drew peg 5 in Zone D. In total there were 156 anglers from all the Gauteng North Angling Clubs.
07:05 I had my first muddie, and I fished my 2 rods at diffrent depths - one at 70m (clipped) and the other on 120m. The early morning fish came out on the closer rod with a tempo of 1 fish/bite per 30min.
At approximately 09:00 the fish on the 70m spot died down and I started to move my closer rod in deaper - the tempo dropped a bit and the fish /bite were comming in at about 45min.
At 12:00 I decided to punch in and went flat out so I got a spot going on 150meters and this is were I think I got the advantage.
Rersults for the day was not bad and lines were up at 15:00.
Our club got 2nd. Munt was first and third was reserved for Defence. Centurion, Correctional Services, Pices, PRAS ect filled the other places.
I was ahead in my zone but in "injury" time another angler banked a 7.1kg carp and he pushed his nose ahead ---> only just - I rebaited and pushed both rods in the hope to land one further fish which would give me the zone. But as far as my peg (which includes my peg mate) we were not in the pound seats as my peg mate struggled a bit and for the peg we came 3rd.
Over all I placed 8th with 10 fish (lost 7 - but thats how it goes).
1 st 19 fish
2 nd 14 fish
3 rd 12 fish
4-9 10 fish (bag weights determined placing)
That was it and now the prep starts for the 2nd leg at Trichardsfontein - a dam that good be very kind to you or turn its back on you depending if it has PMS or not !
