GARRICK GOING WILD

hey guys, got some great news on the garrick HOTSPOT.

I fished overnite at the tongaat mouth (tongaat long beach) and at nite the only thing that was biting was the cold! It was unbearable but luckily we carried our tent!

Around 6 in the morning we decided to get of our comfort zone and net some mullet
thereafter started fishing and after 15 minutes with our bait in the water having 3 of our rods go at once but sadly all the lines where tangled on each other and fish where lost! Maybe with a little more experience we could have prevented it.

An hour after that some other fishermen where getting garrick like crazy, i think all in all i saw around 8 come out ranging from 6kg to 12kg.

i was furious having torn my cast net just before that. we could see the garrick chasing fish right in front of the shoreline.

i cant wait to get back and get my first garrick.

Howzit Salty, i havent fished at tongaat mouth before, but would like to try, especially with this kind of news... How do u get there and is the parking safe???

Great news salty...i almost thort off ditching work an going fishin tom morning...lol! With the latest cold front on its way it should bode more well....

@ mel g...tongaat mouth is best accessed via the m4 highway,head north from durban passed umhlanga,umdloti,tongaat,westbrook an the river lies jus ahead before ballito, the roads has been newly developed and a parking lot has been put in..it is a right turn immediately after the bridge into the parkin area,(approx 50m) the safety off the area i would not know but it is visible from both the road and the beach...hope this helps...

MEL my car got stolen from the exact place so i dont advise anyone to park there.
what i normally do now is get dropped off and picked up.

most of the guys that fish there park their car on the road(bridge) where it is more visible.

hey guys if any of you really want to fish anywhere then get a good group of guys to go and most importantly a one night stand security guard.

then you can fish in peace.

Thanks Salty and Master, i will definitely give the spot a try... I have seen guys park their cars on the freeway, and it is quite visible from the beach... The spot looks really great... I think that the idea of being dropped off nad picked up is a great one...i think must give the spot a try...
