Trawlling for garrick is not for the faint hearted you have to get right into the surf around the mid break zone what you need to do is pin a live shad single hook through the nose or the top jaw and the trebel on the flank of the shad.
When you get into the midbreak flick your live shad towards the shore and leave your reel on free spool as you retreat out the surf to just behind the backline. Trawl your bait in and out of the surf at around 4-8kmph (2-4knots).
When you get a hook up power out of the surf to fight your fish in the safety of being behind the backline useing the boat to set the hook as you power out the surf, dont fish with a loose drag on your reel make it tighter than normalyou must be able to pull line off but not easily.
Hope this helps all you guys and
Cheers TC
