Garmin GPS 72 For sale

Hi Guys

I am selling my Garmin GPS 72, I have only used it once since I have bought it,the guy I dive with has got all the equipment we need on his boat so my GPS has barely been used!

It is spotless still and I have attached a photo, I am also giving 2 rechargable batteries with it free!::S

I am selling it for R900 guys,this is a steal because they retail for about R1600,u are welcome to search the price on the Net!

So please guys I have no use for it and there is still some good Reef waypoints on there that I will also leave on there,please take it off my hands!!!::S

The Boatman, the Garmin GPS72 is NOT a chart plotter. Its a standard GPS. It does NOT have a detailed map, nor does it have the ability to download a map to it.

The GPS76 does have a mapping function though.

I've used the GPS72 for MANY years and its an EXCELLENT unit. They retail for about R2000 WITH the marine pack, which is an external power cable and a mounting bracket.

So will I be able to use it Offshore in PE? Just to plot waypoints and favourite spots and so on. Basic navigation out on the water

A GPS plotter (map) is a very NICE to have feature, but they cost CONSIDERABILY more than your standard GPS's.

Where a plotter (map) unit really comes into its own, is when you're fishing unfamilair waters. It will show you where the shallow area's are and where the harbour and other very well known marks, like wrecks, blinders and shallow reefs are. When the mist/fog rolls in, the mapping unit will also enable you to fish in very rocky (rocks protruding from the water) area's.

The standard GPS can be used in a similar fashion. All that you need to do is go out on a calm day and mark all the relevant area's that you'd need. Like the harbour/launch site, all the dangerous reefs or rocks that are a navigational hazard. That way, you can now plot a ROUTE, which will enable you to safely navigate back in fog/mist or at night.

I just bought a second hand unit in pe but have no idea how to use it -would appreciate a pm on the basic operation and putting in new pionts please.

Is it also a GPS72?? I have just got the unit from Van and it has two owners manuals, I can send you one.
