Garmin 296

Hello guys,

A friend of mine is in the process of purchasing a boat, he is currently researching GPS prices. The boat already has a fishfinder, all he needs is a GPS.

A second hand Garmin 296 is available for him to purchase, however the seller used it for aviation purposes. It is a 2004 model, could you please advice us one whether it works well for marine purposes, and how much one would pay for such a GPS.

Is the nuisance of changing the product registration over to the new owner, worth buying a cheaper, second hand product.

Thanks for your advice :)

Regards,

SP

Test it with a marine card and also make sure that it compateble with a pc to put on waypoints.
