Gansbaai Dive

A couple of friends and I are planning a weekend away in Gansbaai area, was wondering if anyone can help us out with some nice shore dive spots.

I am aware of the huge great white presence there, but we will remain in the kelp.

If you are in the area, you are more than welcome to join us. We will be staying in Franskraal.

Thanks

If the viz is not to bad then dive around de kelders, the water there is nprmal clean and nice and you will be diving over reefs and around rocky areas but a nice dive and if you lucky you should be able to find some steenies swimming around

Hey Simon,
I go out that side every couple of months. Sadly I have never dived there. (An agreement I made with my awesome wife). Just be mindful of the no dive area from the harbour wall to just past 'die dam'...
WP is right, there can be some good fish out that side.
The forecast looks good at this stage.
Happy Stoning!
Cheers,
L

Thanks guys for your replies, we are just going to be very careful, but leave no reef un-checked. The forecast for this weekend is looking incredible.

Hey Ledge, the weather was great, but the water was very disturbed. The vis was very bad, didn't see anything except 2-toned finger fins. Thanks for your interest, must get together before the tail leave. SP

We used to dive Gansbaai every December when the Pearly season was still open. Some lekker spots to the right of the Harbor wall. Danger Point too. Some of those channels between the kelp held some BIG fish. Never saw a shark though, very happy about that!!

Where did you go dive? Did you see a lot of Giant Periwinkles? Have had a craving for allukreukel for a while now. Might just warrent a dive in the near future.
