Deeno - Thanks I fully agree with your comments.

I am desperately trying to raise the cash - I have a serious shortfall currently but I so badly want to go as I have worked hard to get to this point.

I have thus far approached ABSA and two smaller companies but am awaiting responses.

If anyone could give us some pointers in the right direction of whom to contact (Please PM me)

I have a little more than a week to sort this out.

I have an invitation and a letter from the governing body to show that it is valid....

Well i will try and find you companies but its not going to be an easy task,pardon my stupidity but what is your deadline?

Also just a suggestion, why don't you ask admin to help you raise cash. I mean this site is huge and a raffle would add some nice cash into you kitty. If i were you i would try and get a lekker prize together and then ask admin to hold a raffle for you.

Just look at the last two they raised lots of cash, and this one will be in your honour or aid at least plus you will be flying the sealine flag. Just my thoughts on the matter every little bit counts.

Have you guys ever tried going to SASCOC or trying making issues like this public maybe even try getting TV shows like Carte Blance or 3rd Degree involved... I mean at the end of the day major companies have a moral responsability to all sporting codes in this country not just RUGBY and Soccer.

Why even have protea colors then we may as well all get private sponsors togther and invite international teams down and fish as rebels if our countries elite wont support us.

Big Kano has offered is support in offering to organsie a day comp for the Gauteng guys to try and raise some bucks.

 Cost per angler is in the region of 35 - 45 K to attend this one next month - this is a lot of scheckles to make up to go especially if you donot have it........

Sad as I really do love the sport dearly.

Deadline 6th October

I suddenly feel very upset. Its sad that something like the vaskap program didn't start a few years earlier, then angling might have been more in the limelite by now. I wish I had a solution as I know what some anglers put into the sport and guys like yourself deserve an oppertunaty like this.

I will be holding thumbs with everyone on sealine for you.

I really say give them a duck, at the end of the day get the press involved the international fraternity will surely pick up on it somehow.Imagine a whole country gets stripped of colours and doesn't pitch for an event.

What do they want you guys to do,buy your colours rather what honour is there in that.

I can almost bet that companies will somehow support people like yourself if it was smaller money and if an event took place closer to home.The one problem you have in SA is that companies do not see the value of international exposure.

One thing I can tell you is to try an overseas sponsor some company like the cement companies in India, those guys really see value in advertising their brand across the globe.

If every facet of angling in this country stopped fishing for our country imagine the attention it would bring to SA. Then some how they will have to sit up and take note. Its not like we don't have the talent in SA it's just that we are not as fortunate in terms of finance.

I feel for you bro but along with you im sad to say but there is probably a few others in your team who are probably in the same position as you. Sadly i know that many salt water guys face the same circumstances as you fresh water guy's.

I say start a mass boy-cot it may be hard to let go of colours but think of the impact it will have for future generations.

SPyker Krugers wife has been the first to step forward and make a donation - it's a start and I value this comaraderie more than anything.

"Just got to keep chipping away at the block I suppose....

Sadly it is the guys I feel for that have put in the effort for the last few years and are climbing the rankings that would probably be capped in the next year or two that I feel most for - I know I have just been through it and it is tough going as you fish against rankings over 3 years before you start making headway and all you need is one bad day to wreck the whole thing for you....

Ryan, are there bank details that you can furnish us with so that we can see how we can go about helping out? Please publish it to us. I just need to push some few things this morning and then i will speak to some guys in the government and hear if they can assist and also advertised on the radio to ask for some donations.

I have been in communication with Ryan. I decided to escalate this to the government, Department of Sports and Recreation and they replied saying that they are fowarding this to the Minister of Sports. I will push them today to hear how far they are. We will also be making a donation in the account provided.

Will keep everyone updated
