think this a cape moony - extract from web...

Oval Moony (Cape Moony)

Moonies are at home in fresh water and salt water. They occur in large shoals in rivers, estuaries, harbours and in the sea from Tanzania to the Breë River (also reported from Madagascar) and are common off the South African south coast. They are active at night and feed on shrimp and small crabs.

They are sometimes called kite fish because of their shape.

Cape Mooney or Kaapse Maanskynvis

Often found in fresh water(High up rivers). Found all the way from Cape Town to Moz and beyond. SA angling record is 0.3 kg.

They are also always in schools and make for good fillet baits and we have used them for livies(GT's and black tip sharkies love em).

They are generally small enough to use as a live throw bait.
