Fresh water angling

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any fishing camps on the Limpopo river.

Most of the spots I've found on the net are in the Tuli block Botswana.

Seems strange that nothing pops up for the S.African side of the river.

Howzit Ian... and welcome to Sealine.

A mate of mine used to own Pafuri River Camp, very close to the KNP entrance. He has sold it now, but if you are interested, I can fwd the new owners contact details.

The camp is not on the Limpopo but a short drive will get you on the banks. Sean (my mate) used to get some good tigers where he fished. But there is very very little water in the Limpopo right now. We have had a wicked drought this last summer.

Hi limpopoking,

Thanx for the reply. I have heard of Pafuri River Camp, saw that on the internet. I will give them a call.

I'm just looking for a real bush/river trip. I'm not into the carp fishing, never got used to that sitting and waiting for hours. I don't think I have that kind of patience to be honest. Probably due to fishing on the Zam most of my life.

Any other places you can recommend?

Mate, I have just about no experience with any sort of fresh water fishing. Will PM my mate's contact details. He knows a lot more about what there is to catch where... He's not a carp angler either.

@ Uncle Legs. Hi, not aware of much in and around Polokwane. There is Tzaneen dam (apparently good carp fishing there) and a few dams in Haenertzgurg and Magoebaskloof. Also a bit of trout fishing in a river up at the top of Georges Valley, but all of this will require a bit more than a few hours from Polokwane... more kinda weekend stuff.

You could also give John or Richard a call at Brilliant Bass in Polokwane on 015 292 5222 for any pointers around Polokwane.
