This is the moment we've both been waiting for....being underwater, relaxed and holding our breaths. And of course the unspoken challenge written on everybody's face :"who can stay down the longest!" At three minutes down, the rest of the participants are all up, it is only the two brothers forever in competition with each other, going at it yet again.....this time at the bottom of the pool....... waiting for each other... waiting.....Hannes: "With contractions in my diaphragm and convulsions in my chest and throat I gave up, thinking....Barry is the champion." And Barry thinking.... "I am the victor!! But my victory is short-lived. I neglected to return signals and got dragged back to the surface where with blue and sputtering lips I received a solid rebuke! I had pushed my luck and for such a silly reason! First lesson learned; This course is not just about who can hold his breath the longest, it is about diving to your full potential in a dynamic ocean environment with attention to safety, skill and knowledge.A scary but important experience, because it bonded us, brothers, into comrades that look out for each other ..........not competitors who are going to kill each other. Thank you Trevor. It was truly a memorable experience and we know the pay-off is still to come.....
