Found this Dvice on one of the local forums anyone using it and how successful is it?

Use of DVice
The Dvice is designed as a “Hookbait delivery capsule” with its primary purpose to deliver delicate baits in a good condition at long range. The DVice has a home made feel and is constructed using a plastic tube that contains a self fashioned weight at the base, with a screw thread for attaching Gemini Lead Fittings. Attached to the weight is a piece of stainless steel wire that is fixed into the weight and through the tube at two points, making a rigid construction that is tough to break. It is designed to replace your conventional lead on your rigs.

The product works by protecting the baits inside a plastic cylinder during the cast, Once the Dvice enters the water; the water floods the plastic chamber in a controlled fashion thus ejecting the bait at a speed that is unlikely to damage it.

Brilliant concept, Not that I've used it, 2 advantages I see;
1) You can hava a hook snood that is longer than the sinker snood, yet still get same distance as if it were clipped, both of which are preferable in the surf.
2) You can have a delicate bait and it doesn't get smashed to peices when it hits the water clipped to a sinker.

I have tried to get shops to make these, asked friends going overseas to get samples and even considered it as a business venture to make or distribute them depending on patents. What has put me off is that it would be so expensive to make that hardly anybody is likely to justify the cost.

Ditto. I actually knew one of the three stakeholders at DVice well - a fishing guide in the area where I fished in the UK. Distribution of the DVice to SA was discussed but they wanted me to import it rather than manufacture it locally. It sells for £3.50 in the UK, so imagine what it would cost after shipping and importing a lead-based product and then distributing it to retailers. I don't think many South African anglers would be willing to spend that much money on it.

I did test it rather extensively on home ground, but lost quite a few steenbras because the longer hook snood got tangled around the DVice and broke on the tangle. I also fish for steenbras in an area where the currents are quite bad, pulling the DVice all over the place and causing lots of tangles. It does hold advantages in casting fragile baits, but can also get stuck and lost more easily. So, I'll use the few I have left when I really feel the need for it, but that's actually very seldom.

My rig of choice: a limited sliding trace.
