After 3 very successful trips to West Africa this year (Angola, Senegal and Ghana) I was beginning to think that it is a better destination than the more popular East African areas.

However, as I was up in Malindi this week, I chanced a day out yesterday. The Captain Morgan comp was in full swing out of Hemingways (tkei, was your brother there?) and hence boats were in short supply. The fishing they were having was fantastic with every day full of multiple numbers of sails – I am sure the next issue of SkiBoat will have all of the details. Anyway I booked a small boat and took a day charter. As you can see, she doesn’t look like the normal Hattaras’, Cabo’s etc, but she could sure raise fish.

and the final tally - 11 sails released for the day – my best ever on sails. In between the sails we were hassled by football size yellowfin and ended up with 8 of them as well.

Sails have been a pain up there I hear. Ja, my brother was there at the captain morgan Gat back to El today. 488 sails caught in 40 boat days in total. My brother got 2nd top angler with 22 sails and his team won with 69 i think. Had an absolute ball it sounds like, but said he would have liked to get a few more species.
Nepps, he never got to go jigging as my other mate thats up there came down with maleria so was bed bound so boat didnt go out.
I am so bleak I missed out as almost went with my old man for the week with brother just for the jol, but work dictated otherwise.
well done mate, beaut to be only one on the rod and get 11 in a day.

Fooking Ace Tim. :clow
You left Murphy behind here this time and he hassled the CT fleet.

Excellent fishing of what looks to be a ugly duckling of the fleet up there - nice!

Drinks soon as you free? I want to bring that Angolan Tarpon trip to life beginning 09 you still up?

Thanks guys, was an absolute pleasure to be amongst the fish. Though can you believe I left the fly rod at home this time after past experiences - now the one time I could have used it....
HT - all week at home, drinks anytime man. Dead keen for Angola, am travelling 4-11 Feb, 16 - 20 Feb, 2-6 March or 16 -20 March. The rest of the time I need to be at home, but anyone of those dates can be booked for Angola. Lets talk....

I'm moving from today until Friday. Are you here next week?
Maybe we need to do a round up of lads before the festive season gets underway and all the CT lads bugger off on holiday.

Angola - ok we need to talk. I need to get that Tarpon, then a rooster and finally a Broadbill and then I've completed my list of have to catches.
Very early next year will be perfect.

I'll give you a call on the weekend.
