I kow its the wrong forum but, when i used a mushroom sinker, when casting my bomb fell off, is there a special manner in which the bomb placed on or around the sinker.

If it wobbles violently then it is off centre on the weight and will come off when you cast.
If it's not right do it again or you will cast the bol off.

I have also missed fish in the past before I started to use the knotless knot on the shank of the hooks - this also made a massive difference.

I also use to miss fish on Daiichi hooks 0.8 and one of my friends recommended to replace the hard competionion floats with the softer version e.g MG beelding floats (Moster Carp are great) or the Carp Fanatic floats. When doing this when fishing with Daiichi hooks it improved my hook-up rate a lot. But like I mentioned before I still prefer the 9555 (mustad)8 hook it work well with both hard and soft floats and I rarely miss a fish.

The soft floats work great. It's just sometimes that the bleeding floats split in half when I put them on lengthwise. Carp world's normal floaties are also very soft, but they work like a charm. The almost feel like sponge, but they last long on the hook. It also saves a lot of time re-baiting with soft floats compared to the harder floats.
Just got back from the tackle shop and bought 2 packs of Daiichi # 2 hooks.
The 0.8 hooks are so small it'll take forever to get the line through the eye.
I'll keep an eye open for some different floaties. Do any of you know if the
Mr Muti Bunspice 32 floaties are available in small or soft?

Not if you use a nail clipper to cut the line and use 9lbs mono line as hooklinks. I also had a problem getting the line through when I bit the line with my teeth or used pliers to cut the line.

I'll never understand why people spend a fortune on equipment and always skimp on the most important things?????
We see it a lot in the hunting world too. Guys have the best rifles, scopes, bows arrows etc and then buy cheap bullets or broadheads!!!!
At the end of the day its the bullet, broadhead or hook that actually does the job and the rest are mearly "launching platforms" for the above.
