Hallo Guys

With the year where it is, there are  events  that we as Sealine team would like see  and help happening.  BUT without the input and participation of members none of these plans will be possible.  This is where the input of members is so important as YOU THE MEMBER has to decide when and where it will take place.

There are currently only 2 events which are kept as fixed venues. The two oceans comp  ( June 2008 ) and the birthday bash ( Sept 2008 ).

What I am going to suggest  now is for different areas and regions where there are members in numbers. Then open it for discussion ( say for a week ) to get input from the members what will best suit them and then take it from there.  Once a date or time frame has been given from the area members, we can then take it further and round it off as a venue. ( time, date, place, etc. ). PLEASE NOTE: These suggestions are not ONLY for the mentioned regions and areas, feel free to give your input as there may be a number of members in a area (without address ) of which we are not aware of.

Suggestion----Social get together.

EXAMPLE : After opening it on the forum KZN decides to have a venue on a monthly basis. THEN (1) month is set . Again open to members THEN (2) a date is set (3) THEN add a discipline  to the venue for e.g.  a social competition.

When we get this info together we will be able to set up a calendar with the venues and place it on the forum, and planning and preparations can be done according.

Here are some areas with member numbers. ( These  nrs. Are definitely wrong as only 46% of ALL  members  has completed their personal details.) ( see:  PERSONAL DATA INFO post  on forum )

Cape Town—213,  Gauteng—50,  Durban—217,  Richardsbaai—20,  East London—18,  Pretoria—36,  Port Elisabeth--36 , Pietermaritzburg—13, Vredenburg—6,  Strand—8.

The above mentioned places show more than 6 members to an area ( totally  wrong ), and for a start would like to get feedback from them ( or any member ) relating to the above example. To check for the amount of members in your area just complete your PERSONAL INFO e.g. GAUTENG, PRETORIA, and this will appear in BLUE . Location GAUTENG, PRETORIA below  your name. Then  “ click” on GAUTENG and this will show the nr. of members and their names in GAUTENG.

GUYS & GIRLS start getting info to me regarding these matters and lets start getting organized and be seen  as SEALINE where we go with BANNERS, STICKERS, UNIFORMS and in NUMBERS.

All welcome to mail me at simen@optic1.co.za ( off hrs ) or simic@lantic.net ( home )

ALL  MEMBERS. I need your help to make a success of this.

hi simen

could it not be possible that when profiles are created all fields made compulsory to fill out?

would it also not be easier for one to see where exactly a member is from and also when ads are placed in the classifieds people can see where the sale is from?

jus my 2c

regards

Hallo Nizaam
The Emp will correct me if I am wrong but I know that he has started making the fields compulsory. This is however not a task to achieve overnight. Once this is done by just clicking on the members location you will be able to see exactly where he is situated.

it wold also just make me put "coast" as amn eg, and not where im actually from so it may not be worth all the trouble?

Mike I think the Emp is working on a new format for there and all these codes and #$%^& what has been used will be something of the past, Lets give him some time to sort this.
One of the main drives for this is also to be able,  when setting events how many members are in the area. We might be missing a possible venue for a spesific area as we think there are no members there.

Hi Simen can we not have it in Provincial order, where the members are from, Cape Town,Vredenburg,Langebaan all are Western Cape and 100km apart.
Are we not a sporting family? Why are members scared to fill in their profiles? A kind request to all members from a newbie fill in your profiles you have nothing to be scared of you can not go to jail for it.

No problem at this stage. I have actually started counting the members in Provincial order.ANYTHING beats a member just writing South Africa or just leaving the space blank. You guys at the coast are the unluckiest of all, because I am sitting in Pretoria and maybe something can be arranged in the CP province then I go for Cape Town and maybe most members there are e.g. in Vredenburg or Langebaan.
Cape town shows 213 at this stage and Vredenburg 6,Langebaan 3, BUT how many of the CPT members are actually in your area. That's why it is so important to complete your pers info.

Would it not be easier to eliminate "South africa" from location and rather be more specific wrt location as most members are from South Africa as it is?This would save space allowing for a more precise location such as mine used as Lakeside,Cape Town. This would be of far more benefit as one likes to site people according to their exact location for convenience if wanting to fish in nrs or with company in these times where it's safer to fish in numbers. It would also be beneficial for obtaining info on a particular angling area in proximity to a sealine member situated in that particular area.Obviously if a member's from Namibia or Australia, etc,an exception could be made to incorporate their country.Just my 2c.Cheers!

@ Simen ..

My personal opinion is that we try n set a few outings ...at the coast  ..planned way in advance .. we must perhaps consider the season ,the area & the fish that may frequent the suggested area  ..eg Sardine run South coast July ...  Done perhaps 6 months ..

I wud love tof ish with a lot of members  ..But Provincial, club & ESA comps prevent me

from doing so current .

With a calender,i can plan ...;)

As for local Socials...get a  general areas & perhaps set dates & times ...  in advance

My Opinion .....;)

Trying for members from dif areas to come forward and reply to how often they want an event in their area. As E.G. the gauteng guys say a social every 3 months ( or whatever ) we can then put that on the calendar---so for all other diffrent regions. We are thinking the same thought but we need the input from members in diff. areas.

we should have sealine beaches. beaches that are very popular amongst most members and easy to find. e.g. beespen in cpt is the local favorite. so when i get to durban or PE to fish, i can go to a sealine beach and know that there will be someone from sealine there aswell.

this will make social events easier aswell. pick a date and since we already have a beach in the area and everyone knows where it is, all they need to do is show up.
