[font=Calibri][size=2]Well for a while now my wife

Well for a while now my wife was complaining every time I go fishing and I leave the home at 3:00 in the morning or I go away for a classic and stay away for about 5 days that she does not feel safe at home. I had a state of the art alarm system installed but she still felt a bit unsafe. So I decided to go for the next best thing. My uncle breeds with pure bred Rottweiler’s.  So by the time the next classic comes, they will be big enough to take some bodies head off

you cant go wrong there bud. if you got them from a good breeder you will have a really good family dog and watch dog there. i would say send them to doggy school with the wife when they are 6 months cause then when she talks to them they will listen.

p.s dont let habib see them he may get jealous lol

Nice pootches Johan! Hope you hace lots of space for them to run around.

Watchdogs are only good if they have access to your house, in other words they sleep next to your bed, in the passage or near the bedrooms (not in the bed). People fool themselves by thinking they protect you when being outside in the garden all the time. Robbers are either poisening the dogs or spraying them with Cook and Spray to get access to your home.

In Henley-on-Klip the Dogs are being poisend like insects these days, its bad!

My dad bread Bullmastiffs as watch/protector dogs for yonks! Here is a few tips -

Tips:

Train your Dogs.
Dont over feed them.
Play with them everyday.

Things to watch out for, espesially with watch-dogs:

Dogs should never walk in front of you. Its a sign that they are the master. a Good watch dog will walk beside you.
When you open your house door, your dog should not wrestle its way past you to get in first, its a sign that its the master.
Dogs should allways eat after you have eaten, if they eat before you they will think they are the master.

a Dog that thinks its the "Baas of the Plaas" will become problematic.

Grrrrrrriiiinnnnnn!!!

Johan i went for a bullterrier due to the same reasons. Now I can't give my son a hiding or yell at the wife, Achilles just comes and stands inbetween and gives u the 1000 yard stare. Also no more breakins at the pozzie, tho the people up and down the road have had their share....

Rottie would have been my second choice, and as long as you get these dogs from good breeders they are excellent family dogs, and beats the hell out of ADT....

Mine's on Vets Choice as well, The Green bag now, and it's EXPENSIVE!!!!

Scrat couldnt have said it any better....

A guard dog outside of the house at night is utterly useless.  Achilles has his own bed in both the lounge and in the bedroom.

And he and the 2 yearold are like "vinkel & koljander".  I don't know who's the worst of if they are worse when they are together....

a friend of mine in joburg used to train rotties and he is a boxer man. last year some #$%^&* idiots broke in and because the dogs were trained he was able to tell them to go to the bathroom and lie down, if they had attacked the gunmen would have done unthinkable to my mate or the dogs.

just shows that good training

The thing with a rottie is that he sleeps where your door is and gets trained not to take food from anybody and also does not eat from the table. So hence NO poisoning as they will not take food from anybody. The other thing is that when they do decide to break in they will not know they are there till it is too late. A male rottie does not bark ore anything before he attaches. So when you know he is there it’s too late.
