Foam lures - Sticks

I have spent tons of time and money for that matter, experimenting with different foams and different formulations and even made a few poppers to get to this point. The reason why I made the original foam popper was because I had the mould that's it. The real reason I have done this is to make these stick baits. I had some results this week and I believe we have the answer and are ready to produce the first true foam stick bait.

Why the foam, is because it can be internally weighted and the weights can be strategically placed to give the lure a specific action. This lure will remain neutrally buoyant with a 3 oz sinker inserted. Add 4 Oz and it will be a slow sinker. Move the weight forward and it will nose dive. Move the weight to the back and it will slide backwards. Then the shape of the lure can also be played with and you can get quite creative here.

Here is the first phase. What do you guys think of the profile before I mould it.

I hollowed the sides of the tail slightly and kept the mid/fore section quite bulky. With the water flow speeding up then slowing down at the tail, I am hoping it will increase the side to side motion.

Looks bloody awesome Bennie!!!

Similar shape to a Bopara, which is a great slow sinking stickbait, I think that profile is best suited to the slow sinking sticks, whereas a slightly longer "slimmer" shape would be better for floating sticks... \

It looks like you've taken some of the great ideas and shapes from a few differnt lures, and added your own original spin and ideas to it to come up with something awesome and original.....

Fantastic work mate, I'm impressed, keen to see how she swims and shakes he @ss in the water!!

Nice work mate, keep us in the loop on how it goes!

Looking good Bennie.

Do you intend using singles, doubles or trebles?

Why did you put the front hook on the front side of the "hump" and not the rear side?

Hi,
Thanks!
I wanted to get the hook up front, the first third of the lure.

I'll fit trebles!

I don't have all my stuff set up, but here is my "make shift" painting jig and the stick. The stick bait has now got a fibre glass shell. I have done a sand, filler, sand and now a base coat. The base coat I've used here is just a tin of spray paint, a product that is an arts and crafts product but I use it because it stick to anything. It also provides a good surface to put paint on.

Tomorrow, I'll be doing the final paint.
