Fly Fishing Reels

My first choice is a Shilton. World class reel made in SA.
I don't believe there is a better imported reel.
Good value for money are the Xplorer XPSS 12 reels. Check out both websites. Their Guide II reels are also good from 5-10wt.
Normally a fly reel just holds the line but if you are talking 11wt for salt water then your drag system is critical. Also line capacity. Use 30-50lb braid for backing. There are no cheap reels suitable for this work.
Enjoy!

Yes i know when i go to 10wt plus i must get something with exelint drag but im asking if someone doesnt have one lying around at home that doesnt get used.

Cuz they are do dam expensive in the shop so ill settle for secondhand reel.

Hi Kippi i am using a 9wt rod but whant the bigger reel for more backing.

Cuz i have hooked big garrick(10kg+) on plug and a 10ft passion stick with a daiwa excellor4500 but they almost spooled me so i am looking for bigger and more backing on the reel.

And i know where whe fish there is alot of garrick thats in the 12-17kg range cuz whe couldnt stop them on normal tackle.

I have a Shilton SL6 and it holds 150m of 50lb backing and my fly line. I hear what you say, but that would be enough to stop a 30kg kingy.

Remember the fly line puts a huge amount of drag on the fish that help tire them out much quicker.
