agree with Enigma
for gallies, i only use the Maxima .60.
not only for its "invisibility" but more so for its stiffness.
nothing worse than mono getting tangled up and kinked around you swivel/sinker trace, when fishing in the wash.

Thats interesting that you use such think Flouro, i wouls use .44 at most for Gallies is it purely from a trace not kinking point of veiw? what knots are you using for the thicker Flouro?

the only reason is that a proper galjoen will pop your trace.
i have used .70mm and still got hammered by a fish in falsebay
personally i would never go lighter than .60- just personal preferance. i use a normal albright or fig 8
pleasure man- i think, being flourocarbon, you can get away with going slightly thicker.
