Flavoured Mielies

Hi there guys

Im still a fan of using the good old faithful flavoured mielies...I like the idea of making my own. At the moment I make Pineapple, Banana, Caramel and Almond by draining plain whole kernal corn from the tin and adding the Robertsons or Moirs essence. I have been getting good results on these flavours...especially the pineapple, however...how does one achieve all the other wierd and wonderful flavours that you can find in the tackle shops? How do you get or make those flavours?

Hi Nick-I used to do the same. The pips I used I made the same way. I used Koo whole Kernal pips with strawberry essence and added some Icing Sugar. I didn't have enough pips at the Vaal Dam.

do you add water to increase the volume of the essence to cover the whole lot or what does a person do

Hi Ek dink die beste wat jy kan doen is gaan kry vir jou Propelene Glycol of Citric Acid en maak die bottel vol daarmee. Ek weet nie waar in die kaap jy dit gan kry nie.

Alby is preservatives so jy mielies sal nie vrot nie. Met die water sal ek geneig wees om te dink dat die water sal vrot na `n ruk.

Jy kan in my opinie een hele bottel essence in gooi in die een blik mielies. ek sal hom net eers kook in die essence sodat die geur lekker in die mielies in trek.
