Fitting an aftermarket Power handle / T bar

This is a T-Bar I'm fitting to a TLD 25, but the principle remains for any after market handle. Some may require a star screwdriver instead of an allan key.

For this job we only need a 5mm allan key, some masking tape, 8mm drill bit and the original tool that came with your TLD 20 / 25.

1. Remove the handle and place it firmly in a vice.

You will see that the TLD already has a center mark on the pin, make life easy.

Simply drill into the pin, using the center to guide the bit. Drill just until you start seeing the brass from the arm showing.

Now pry the handle off the pin. It will come just by "wiggling" it. If you are battling, you can use a screwdriver to help pry it. But be careful not to scratch it.

Wrap some masking tape around it to protect it. Then place the arm in the vice.

Drill the hole open with the 8mm drill bit.

Now simply use the allan key and spanner provided with the tld to bolt the handle on.

Easy!

Will this work for an Ultegra grinder, great reel but comes standard with a pathetically tiny handle that is as uncomfortable as they come ? Do you supple handles ? Specifically the alu. power knob type ?

I actually did this post for someone on the forum who sent me a PM. I do have a few of these black handles. For the aluminium knobs I think Whaler was selling them?? Check, they require a 6mm hole instead of 8mm.

Thanks, is there anyway of getting the old handle off without drilling it ?
